Cash flow planning
Cash flow planning is a vibrant way of visualising your financial situation and how it could change over time.
We are very proud to offer cash flow planning as standard to our clients. It is often the first step in understanding your financial position. It can help answer questions such as:
- Can I afford to retire or make work optional when I want to?
- Have I got enough to stop work and embark on an adventure across the world with my partner?
- Can I afford to make significant house renovations?
- How much can I gift to my loved ones or charities without affecting my lifestyle?
- Can I afford to pay for education costs for my children or grandchildren, and sustain it until they graduate?
How does it work?
Everything starts with listening. We take the time to understand your financial situation. This includes your income, spending, assets and liabilities. We discuss your plans for your future whether that is reducing your hours, supporting the next generation or travel. All of this helps paint a picture of where you want to go from here.
Once we have this information, we analyse it using our software. Cash flow planning forces us to make assumptions. We base these on our detailed understanding of your unique circumstances, common sense and years of experience.
The result is a visual chart of your financial position over time. It helps you see whether you are on track or “have enough” to achieve what you are aiming for. The plan doesn’t have to be static. It rarely is. We can tweak some assumptions to see their impact, or stress test the plan for market downturns.
Cash flow planning often leads to discussions about how to ensure that your objectives are met. It sets the scene for investment management – how to invest and structure your investments so that you are in the best position to achieve your goals.
